GUANGZHOU - The 134th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) closed Saturday in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, with offline export agreements worth a total of 22.3 billion U.S. dollars.
Xu Bing, spokesman for the fair, said the turnover rose 2.8% from the previous fair.
Exhibitors signed agreements with partners from countries along the "Belt and Road" totalling 12.27 billion U.S. dollars, up 2% from the previous session, Xu said.
As of Friday, overseas buyers from 229 countries and regions have participated in the fair online and offline. There were nearly 198,000 offline overseas buyers at this year's Canton Fair, up 6.4% from the 126th Canton Fair in 2019.
"The increase in overseas buyers and positive orders at this year's Canton Fair have further strengthened enterprises' confidence in foreign trade next year." Xu said.
On the import side, 650 enterprises from 43 countries and regions participated in the import exhibition of this year's Fair, of which 60 per cent came from countries along the "Belt and Road".
Founded in 1957, the fair is held twice a year and is considered a major measure of China's foreign trade.
