UV printers vs UV DTF printers: different processes

UV DTF printing is actually a type of UV printing method, but the printing process is different: UV printers are simpler to work with, while UV DTF printers deal with more steps to take advantage.

Differences between UV printers and UV DTF printers

While there are similarities between the two types of printers, such as the fact that both UV printers and UV DTF printers require the use of UV heat for printing, there are certain differences.

Printing method

This Difference in Printing Methods The difference between UV printers and UV DTF printers is that UV DTF printers require more steps Compared to UV printers: UV printers print on the substrate Directly Whereas UV DTF printers print on an AB film first, which is then attached to the substrate.

Printing Inks

UV printers use C/M/Y/BK/W and Varnish, while UV DTF printers use one more ink: a special adhesive that is used to leave the printed image on the media (substrate).

Applicable substrates and types

UV DTF printers are an extension of UV printers and make up for the shortcomings of UV printing. It is difficult for UV printers to print directly on smooth surfaces such as mirrors. Moreover, the adhesion of UV ink is very poor, resulting in poor overall printing results. Despite subsequent technological breakthroughs, UV printers can still only print on some coated substrates, such as: metal coating, ABS coating, leather coating, silicone coating, glass coating, PC coating, etc.. But due to the limitations of its print plane or surface, some objects need to be built-in equipment painting, which is difficult to realize.

UV DTF printers were created to realize printing on more difficult surfaces such as walls, floors, windows, inside of cups and so on. When transferred to hard material surfaces, it is scratch and abrasion resistant. This is a very economical and convenient way of customized printing.
